Blaise Johnson
Golf Coach in Redwood City, California
Save ~$10-15 per lesson with me by not having to purchase golf balls at the range! Hi there, I'm Blaise! A seasoned golfer carrying a scratch handicap, and a tech entrepreneur by profession. My lifelong affair with the game has not only allowed me to master the nuances of golf but also share my knowledge with budding golfers. Over the years, I've honed my teaching skills having given well over 5,000 detailed lessons. My approach to teaching golf revolves around nailing the basics first, and then progressively moving onto the more intricate details of the game that fit your natural swing. As a former multi-sport athlete, I like to find a students natural athleticism and teach a swing that revolves around what works best for the student. Golf is hard to learn on your own. Many aspects of the game are counterintuitive and often times up means down, right means left...etc. I'll help you skip years of frustration trying to learn these concepts, and get you hitting the ball better than you thought possible. So, let's get started on this exciting journey, gradually improving your game from the fundamentals to the finer strokes, while having a blast. I teach out of a private golf simulator in Redwood City. If you're not familiar with a simulator, it's high end technology that captures every metric of both the ball and club. In my opinion, the golf simulator is the best way to work on your golf swing because you get so much more data than just hitting balls at the range. The simulator also includes a high speed camera that shows the club hitting the ball frame by frame. But mostly, it's just really cool and a lot of fun!

“I’ve had the pleasure of taking two golf sessions with Coach Blaise so far, and it’s been a fantastic experience. As someone just starting out, I couldn’t have asked for a better coach. Blaise is incredibly passionate about golf and deeply knowledgeable about the sport — and that enthusiasm is contagious. He has a great way of breaking down the fundamentals and explaining concepts clearly, which has helped me make noticeable improvements in my swing and overall mechanics in just a short time. More importantly, his coaching style is patient, focused, and encouraging — exactly what you want when stepping into something new. I highly recommend Blaise to anyone looking to learn or sharpen their golf game.”

Great discussion on the player and mental aspects of playing the game. Furthermore, I learned a new shot to get over sands traps and hills, etc. Here's some professional pictures from the new course at St. Andrews. I thought I would share!

I have dabbled in golf for years, but it was only when I started taking lessons from Blaise that I experienced significant improvement in my game. His keen eye for detail and his technical knowledge were truly invaluable. He systematically dissected my swing, analyzing every aspect of it, and provided specific instructions on how to enhance it. I was astounded by the results - my handicap went down by four strokes after just a couple of months with Blaise. His professionalism, combined with his affable personality, make him an excellent coach.

Honestly, I found Blaise's lesson quite helpful, especially in working on my stance and how I align my club. Though I’m still getting the hang of a consistent swing, I appreciated his real-world tips that made sense. Still, I think with a bit more practice I could really start to see some noticeable improvement. If you're looking for someone who keeps things straightforward and focused, Blaise's got that balance. You might want to give it a try if you're into steady progress without the hype.

I am a beginner and have have taken three lessons with Blaise so far. He focuses a lot on the basics but has a fairly modern teaching style that makes learning a complex sport such as golf so much fun. By modern what I mean is he will teach what will make you successful in long term rather than just focusing on short term improvements to your shot range. In his own words if you learn the tough stuff right then the rewards will follow on an ongoing basis. I highly recommend him.

I had a lesson with Blaise and found it really helpful overall. He explained things clearly, especially when it came to improving control of my swing. By the end of the session, I noticed a big improvement in both distance and direction. He also pointed out a few things I hadn’t considered before, which makes me feel more confident about continuing to improve. If you’re looking for someone who gives clear, practical advice, Blaise is definitely worth trying.

My recent lesson with Blaise was quite good. I especially appreciated how he broke down some subtle adjustments that really made a difference in my swing, though there's still room to improve. Still, I feel like I’m moving in the right direction and look forward to focusing more on those details next time. Honestly, giving Blaise a try might be worth it if you're looking for a measured, straightforward approach.
