Brendon Dickenson · Golf coach in Grand Prairie, Texas
If you are wondering what’s the average cost of a golf lesson, here is the short answer: in most cities, a private, one-hour lesson typically runs $75-125, and in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, that range fits what I see day to day. I’m Brendon Dickenson, and my own 60-minute lessons in Grand Prairie are competitively priced, with clear value and a plan to help you actually get better.
What Does a Typical Golf Lesson Cost in Grand Prairie?
From what I see teaching around Grand Prairie, one-on-one lessons usually fall between $75 and $125 for 60 minutes. Prices move based on the coach’s experience, where you meet, and whether technology like a simulator is involved. Group sessions tend to be cheaper per person, and multi-lesson packages often drop the per-lesson price.
If you are comparing options locally, you will see a mix of driving range lessons and indoor simulator sessions. Both can be effective when the plan is focused. My coaching style puts a premium on dialing in everything from 100 yards and in, plus consistent ball striking. That way, your investment turns into lower scores you can feel in your next round.
What Factors Change the Price of a Golf Lesson?
Several real-world details affect what you pay and what you get:
Coach’s background: More experienced instructors usually charge more. You are paying for sharper diagnosis and faster adjustments.
Location and facility: Premium ranges or private simulators can add cost, especially if technology is included.
Lesson length: Most sessions are 60 minutes. Shorter lessons can reduce cost, longer ones can go up in price but allow more reps and deeper work.
Private vs group: Private equals maximum attention. Group saves you money and can be great for fundamentals or short game stations.
Packages or memberships: Buying multiple sessions often lowers your per-lesson cost and keeps you committed to a plan.
Tech and video: If you use a simulator or video feedback, you may pay a bit more, but you also get immediate data and clearer swing checkpoints.
My Pricing and What You Get With Me
Here is exactly how I price my Grand Prairie golf lessons, all 60 minutes and focused on real improvement:
Single lesson: $50
Package lessons: $80 each
Membership lessons: $75 each
What is included:
A clear plan around 100 yards and in, plus consistent ball striking before we ever chase distance.
Clubs if you need them. I always have a set on hand if you do not own one yet.
Simple checklists for grip, stance, and setup so you can repeat the feeling on your own.
Targeted drills you can practice at the range or at home.
My goal is to make sure your money is not just spent, it is invested in habits you can repeat without me. Students tell me the explanations click and the energy stays high, which helps learning stick. As Emma put it, “His feedback is clear and helpful, and you can tell he really knows what he’s doing.”

I teach in person at two local spots and a private indoor option:
Golf Ranch Grand Prairie, Grand Prairie
Grand Oaks Golf Club, Grand Prairie
Private Simulator, Arlington
If you prefer real turf and outdoor visuals, we can meet at Golf Ranch Grand Prairie or Grand Oaks Golf Club. If you like consistent conditions, tight feedback loops, and avoiding the Texas heat, the private simulator in Arlington is a great choice.
What’s the Average Cost of a Golf Lesson in Texas Compared to Elsewhere?
Across the broader Dallas-Fort Worth area, expect $75-125 for a 60-minute private lesson, and similar prices across much of Texas. Larger metros with premium facilities can land closer to the top of that range. Smaller towns and shorter sessions can be under that range. The key is what you get for the money. If the structure is clear and the fundamentals are locked in, you will save more in the long run because you will not have to undo random tips later.
Are Simulator Lessons Cheaper Than Range Lessons?
Not always. The price usually lines up with the coach’s time, the facility, and the technology. At my private simulator in Arlington, you get tight ball data and face-to-path feedback that helps you find the center of the face and control your start line. That clarity can reduce how many sessions you need because we can isolate one variable at a time and confirm improvements immediately.
If you are working on wedges, putting, and partial shots, indoor sessions can be incredibly efficient. When the summer heat is up, staying inside can also help you keep your energy high for the full 60 minutes so we squeeze more value out of the time.
How to Stretch Your Lesson Budget and Improve Faster
If you want the most progress per dollar, focus on these steps:
Start with setup: Grip, stance, alignment, and posture. We lock this in first so every rep counts.
Prioritize 100 yards and in: Wedges and putting lower your scores faster than anything else.
Buy strategically: A package or membership brings down the per-lesson cost and keeps momentum.
Film your reps: Bring your phone. I will show you what to capture and how to compare to your checkpoints.
Keep a simple practice card: 2-3 drills, 20-30 quality reps each, and a quick note about contact and start line.
When you execute a simple plan like this, your spend goes further because you are not guessing between sessions.
How Many Lessons Do You Really Need?
For a brand-new golfer, three to five lessons give you a strong foundation. We cover grip, stance, and setup, then build a reliable strike pattern on half and three-quarter swings before moving to full speed. For intermediate golfers who are streaky, 2-3 sessions spaced a week apart can stabilize contact and tighten wedges. Lower-handicap players who want marginal gains can book 1-2 targeted sessions and then schedule follow-ups only when a pattern shows up.
The goal is not endless lessons. It is the right number of reps with the right checkpoints. Blake summed up the process well: “He stayed positive and helped me work through [the yips], understanding what was happening and how to fix it.”
30, 45, 60, or 90 Minutes: Which Is Best Value?
Shorter sessions can be great for a single checkpoint, but they can feel rushed if we need to cover setup and swing motion. Ninety minutes can be useful for a full game assessment, yet many golfers get tired and lose quality in the last stretch. Sixty minutes tends to be the sweet spot. It is long enough to address setup, rehearse, and hit enough balls to confirm what is working without losing focus.
What Results Should You Expect for Your Money?
If we are working on setup and contact, you should see better strikes in the first lesson. Ball flight and distance control usually settle in over 1-3 weeks if you practice the drills. Short game results come fastest when you put in 15-20 focused minutes between lessons, especially from 50-100 yards and on the putting green. Angel said it better than I can: “He’ll explain something 10 different ways until it clicks and he never makes you feel bad for not getting it right away.”
How to Choose a Coach in Grand Prairie
Look for a clear plan: Ask what the first three sessions will focus on and how you will measure progress.
Match coaching style to your goals: If you want to score lower fast, make sure short game and ball striking are front and center.
Check reviews: I am grateful to have a 5-star average across 15 reviews and 27 completed lessons. Read the comments to see if the coach’s communication style fits you.
Consider logistics: Choose a location you can reach easily. Consistency beats a one-off session across town.
Will Packages or Memberships Save Me Money?
Yes, if you actually use them. A package lowers your per-lesson cost and keeps you accountable to a practice plan. A membership is the best fit when you want frequent check-ins, especially if you are chasing a swing change or getting ready for a season of tournaments or league play. The time between lessons is where the improvement sticks, so consistent, shorter gaps often help you learn faster and save money over time.
