"What's for dinner?" Why is this always nerve wracking? Well for one thing it's often hard to come to a decision. How many times have you said something you want and heard that the person that you're eating with had that for lunch? Too many times the decision can take longer than getting the food on the table! Meal Prep is the answer!
When you KNOW the basic principles of the Mediterranean Diet, and you chart what you're eating for a few weeks, you start to see a pattern, a pattern of the foods that you just aren't getting enough of, and make them while cooking other things and keep them on hand. Meal Prep is easier than you think, it's just a matter of thinking ahead!
As a Nutrition Coach and Chef, and an Italian American Grandmother, I will tell you that it is almost never protein that is missing. It's more often than not, vegetables. Prepping produce when it comes into the kitchen is not a bad idea! Especially calciferous vegetables, which take longer to cook and can be tossed into salads, added to soup, eaten with dips while cooking..., or packed for lunch! You can clean vegetables and wrap them in paper towels or keep them dry in the refrigerator and you're half way there. Week night meals are more laborious because you've already spent your energy during the day, including decision making!
With a little organization you can learn to have things on hand that will make dinner happen quickly, round out your macronutrients and help you sleep better!
In my meal prep camp you will learn: • How many ounces of protein you need per serving • How many servings of vegetables to eat a day • A simple way to classify fruits and vegetables to fulfill your vitamins and minerals • The best time of day for you to eat what, by the way your gut microbiome reacts to carbohydrates • How to choose and store food to keep it safe and minimize waste • How to cook many meals at the same time and clean up the kitchen once! (this is my favorite!) • Which foods reheat well, and which foods to pack to eat without needing to heat them up. • Why eating foods that are in season is always the best choice. • How to save money, time, energy and not lose your mind!
If you need help in getting the meal thing simplified, check out my Meal Prep options. I even offer a meal prep camp on Saturdays so that you can do it with me or just watch! https://sites.coach/elaine-good/camps/g2RMmBkn Certified Nutrition Coach and Chef Elaine Good
