“Charles came in frustrated because every shot he hit was a slice, no matter what club he used. I took a look at his swing and quickly spotted a few key issues: his grip was too weak, the clubface was staying wide open at impact, and he was coming over the top in his downswing. We worked on strengthening his grip, squaring the clubface earlier, and swinging more from the inside. I showed him some simple drills—like placing a headcover just outside the ball to stop the over-the-top move and using a towel under his arms to keep the swing connected. By the end of the session, Charles was hitting straighter shots with a few nice baby draws. His confidence was up, and he’s pumped to keep working on his game!”

What Students Say
James Gutiérrez
1 lesson
One of my students came in struggling with tempo—he would rush through his backswing and then try to kill the ball with his hands. It threw off his timing and he’d either top the ball or hit it fat. We worked on slowing down his transition, feeling the club load, and using his body more efficiently instead of just swinging with his arms. After a few drills and some reps, he started making much cleaner contact, and you could see the difference in his ball flight. It was a big step forward in getting him to play more in control, and he left the session feeling like the game actually makes sense now.
Alex Perez
3 lessons
Alex was struggling with consistency and ball striking, often losing control due to an overly long backswing. We worked on shortening his swing and improving his hip and shoulder rotation. Additionally, we made adjustments to his grip, which felt uncomfortable at first but has helped him improve his control and connection with the ball over time. With practice, Alex has adapted well to the changes, and his ball flight and strike feel have improved significantly. His swing is now more compact, powerful, and consistent, leading to much more solid contact and increased confidence on the course.
Robinson Afanador
5 lessons
Robinson had never played golf before, and his first time swinging a club was during one of my classes. It was a challenge at first, as he wasn’t used to activating the specific muscles involved in a proper golf swing, and it felt uncomfortable for him just to make a basic motion with the club. However, by the end of the session, he was making contact with the ball and starting to see some ball flight, which is a big win for a first-time golfer. Robinson is excited to come back and keep working on his game, and I’m looking forward to helping him continue making progress.

You know, I think John's lesson really stood out because he provided clear feedback that made it fairly straightforward to identify what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. Still, there's always room to sharpen certain aspects, though I felt pretty confident leaving the lesson knowing what to focus on next. If you're looking to get a better understanding of your swings without overcomplicating things, this lesson was quite helpful. I’d say it’s worth giving John a try to see how the feedback can help improve your game.
Maria Suarez
1 lesson
Maria came into her first lesson with no prior golf experience and was understandably nervous about even swinging the club. We focused on building a simple, repeatable swing, helping her understand how to use her body rather than just her arms. At first, it felt awkward for her to get into the right posture and make a smooth motion, but by the end of the lesson, she was able to make solid contact with the ball and see some shots flying straight. It was a huge step forward, and she’s excited to keep learning!
José Afanador

I’ve been giving lessons to a José who was struggling with using too much arms in their swing. We’ve been focusing on improving hip and shoulder rotation to create a more compact and powerful swing. Their progress has been great—more control, better contact, and a noticeable improvement in consistency. It’s been rewarding to help them develop proper fundamentals and build confidence in their game.
