Introduction to Songwriting: Open Mic Nights and the Networking Space
Open Mic nights are a great way to connect with fellow musicians. Despite this, each venue has strict rules that every participant must follow. In this package, you will not only learn songwriting but also how to collaborate with other musicians, set goals, and lock in studio sessions that value the time between you, the producers and your collaborators.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking with Stefan.
What do you expect from your client/ student?
As an educator, the only thing I look for in a student is a willingness to learn.
What is your training like?
Each student I take in during the year will undergo drills and exercises. This includes doing worksheets, vocal drills, rhythmic and melodic dictation, and sight reading.
Why should I trust you?
I'm glad you asked me that question. My dedication to my students includes making sure their vocal abilities are not wasted. It's hard enough being a musician, but learning to sing is a gift meant to be shared with people. The outcome I desire for my students is that they will learn to appreciate the vocal range they are given, to use their voice as creatively as possible, and to help others who are pursuing a vocation in music/ performing arts.
What will I need to bring with me?
For tests and drills, you will need to bring a lead pencil (0.07 mm), a Staedtler eraser, blank sheet music (which is free online), listening skills, and a notebook or journal to keep track of your progress. For warm-ups, I recommend a bottle of water to help you hydrate. For drills/ exercises, dictation, and sight-reading, bring a metronome. You can use a metronome app, just please be careful when downloading apps onto your phone.
Is it okay if I record my voice?
Absolutely. I highly recommend it. You can use an app like GarageBand to help you track your progress.
Will you teach K-Pop songs?
Due to the unsettling label disputes, subject matter, and crimes in the South Korean music industry, K-Pop songs will not be taught. Instead, traditional songs, vocal techniques, and history will be in the curriculum. K-Pop is not a genre, but rather an industry that contributes to a shallow view of Korean culture.
My child speaks Korean. Will you offer any lessons in the Korean language?n language?
Yes, although it will take some time since my proficiency level is not up to speed.
Will you teach songwriting and producing?
Yes, in the near future.
